Before entering the medical profession, Stefan had an impressive military career. After graduating as an officer from the US Military Academy at West Point, he led 34 scout Soldiers in the ground invasion and liberation of Iraq as a scout platoon leader. Afterward, he was promoted to a company commander in the 4th Infantry Division, leading 104 Soldiers in combat and was responsible for over $120 million worth of military weapons, vehicles and equipment.

After returning to the U.S., McFarland taught military professional development to students at the University of Texas, Austin, as an associate professor of military science. After leaving the military, he opened his own fitness training center, which partially specialized in first responder preparedness.

McFarland then earned a Master of Physician Studies and began his first job as a physician assistant at Physicians’ Center in Georgetown. There, he provided family medical care, minor emergency treatments and weight loss management. He also implemented an ultrasonography program to diagnose Musculoskeletal conditions, as well as ultrasound guided procedures to evaluate subcutaneous masses.

Currently, McFarland works as the vice president of clinical operations for the Texan Allergy and Sinus Center in Austin. He is responsible for the successful daily operations of 12 clinics from Waco to San Antonio and for mentoring, developing, and supervising three MDs, 12 PA/NPs, three clinical managers and 42 medical assistants. McFarland is highly proficient in providing physical exams, stress tests, audiometry, spirometry and conducting screening examinations in accordance with NFPA 1582.
